    Lake Shawnee will open its gates every Friday and Saturday for the 2017 Halloween season. Gates open at 5:00 P.M. each evening giving you the chance to take a stroll around the spooky lake and take pictures of the abandoned rides and eerie landscapes before sunset. When the sun goes down over the hill prepare yourself as the carnival gets dark. Will you brave the night and walk to the Indian Burial Ground alone? Will you go across the lake and learn the fate of many children that once visited this sacred land? Bring your flashlights, cameras, and paranormal equipment and go on our self-guided photo history tour. Gather around campfires and listen to the many stories that Lake Shawnee is famous for. It will send chills up your spine. Maybe you would like to feel the rush of adrenaline in your veins? Well, check out the Lake Nightmare: Hostel. It is our one of a kind haunted attraction.     The City of Bluefield: Trunk or Treat and Monster Dash

    The City of Bluefield presents their annual Trunk or Treat and Monster Dash from 3 P.M.-6 P.M.  Located in the green space in front of Bluefield City Park there will be face painting, pumpkin carving, bounce houses, music a 5K run, a kids fun run, and of course lots of candy.  For more information call (304) 887-2386.

    Historic Bramwell Ghost Tour

    This is a charming tour that won’t scare you too bad but it will definitely put you in a magical state of mind. Walk through a Victorian town and witness ghosts tell the stories of their pasts. The tour is guided and will create a spooky treat. Tickets are $10.00 in advance and $15.00 at the event.     The McKameys

    Organized as a trio of sisters in 1954, the group “The McKameys” is in its sixth decade of spreading God’s message of love and hope through their music. There have been a few changes throughout the years with one sister continuing with her family. The McKameys play about 145 days a year, travelling throughout North America. To date, they have had 30 number one songs. And yet, this family group is devoted to their Lord, first of all, to their church, and to their call to spread God’s Word to others through their music.

    It’s a Wonderful Life: Live from WVL Radio Theater

    This 1940s “live broadcast” of Frank Capra’s beloved film takes us back to the Golden Age of Radio. This fresh new adaptation of the film is set in the fictional studio of WVL Radio Theatre on a cold, snowy winter night. Due to the blizzard, the professional voice actors are unable to get through, but the show must go on — so a small but intrepid band of employees manage to create the dozens of movie characters and scenes using just their voices and a sound effects table.

    The Passing of Pearl is the tale of three women who have worked at a local diner in Memphis since the 1960's. The diner, like these women, has witnessed the racial struggles of the changing times of the south. The owner, Pearl passes away and her daughter plans to sell the historic diner. The two remaining women struggle to deal with life after the diner. What do you do when life as you know it ceases to be?  Just ask Leateen and Daphney. written by Vain Colby and directed by Thomas Lester, The show debuted on the Summit Players' Stage in May of 2010 and has the distinction of representing West Virginia at the Southeastern Theatre Convention in October of 2010.
