Fall in love with the season on an outdoor adventure in Mercer County, West Virginia! Experience the vibrant autumn colors up close with these fun fall activities.

Hit The Trails

With three state parks and countless scenic mountain overlooks in our backyard, our area is a top leaf-peeping destination.

  • Pinnacle Rock State Park – Hike to the top for an aerial view of stunning fall foliage.
  • Camp Creek State Park – Trek through the colorful forest and discover the incredible foliage surrounding the park’s two waterfalls.
  • Brush Creek Preserve – Take the short quarter-mile hike from the parking area to one of Mercer County’s most accessible waterfalls, Brush Creek Falls. Depending on water levels, you may even be able to walk behind parts of the falls!

Take A Drive

For a more relaxed pace, drive to the top of East River Mountain for an amazing glimpse of the mountaintop landscape and sweeping fall colors. Stop at the overlook and snap a picture on the Almost Heaven swing!

Go ATV Riding

Looking for an adventurous way to spot the changing leaves? Take advantage of the crisp weather and vibrant hues on an off-road excursion on the legendary Hatfield-McCoy Trails. Our vast all-terrain trail network is a rider’s paradise, featuring more than 700 miles of off-road trails.

Ride An Aerial Tram

Take in the colors from above on Pipestem Resort State Park’s aerial tramway! The six-minute ride descends 1,200 feet down the mountain, offering a unique perspective of the Bluestone River Gorge and the surrounding autumn landscape.
