Last updated: August 30, 2021

Ring in the New Year with family-friendly activities, parties and entertainment.  From Princeton to Bluefield, you can find a multitude of different events – from dinner at a local ATV resort to a party in streets.

Want to see fire spin? Or how about ice sculptures on the street on New Year’s Eve? Princeton’s Downtown Countdown will close Mercer Street for family-friendly activities in the area surrounding Princeton Town Square. There will be roaming performers, plenty of music, art,  games and creative activities. There will be warming stations outside and several businesses will be open throughout the night as well.

The event begins at 8:30 p.m. and will continue until 12:30 a.m. Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for senior citizens, $7 for students, and may be purchased in advance online at www.downtowncountdown.org, or at the office of Community Connections (215 S. Walker St.). Tickets may also be purchased at the gate. Veterans and kids 10 & under are free. Your ticket grants you access to all venues of entertainment, and it comes with a free party item and hot chocolate. At 11:30 p.m. the gates will come down and no ticket is required from that point forward. Anyone is welcome to come watch the ball drop and enjoy fireworks. Food and drink will be available for purchase.

The Railyard, located on Raleigh Street in Bluefield,  will celebrate the New Year with a special menu and a bottle of champagne for a once-a-year toast.  At midnight the Clover Club doors will be opened to watch the Lemon Drop on Commerce Street.  Reservations can be made by calling (304) 800-4141

The area’s largest ATV resort, Buffalo Trails, will open their doors for dinner on NYE at 6 p.m.-midnight. Special cabin rates are also available for the night. Bring your machines and ride the Hatfield-McCoy ATV Trail on the first day of the new year.

The Corner Shop, home of the best milkshake in WV, is taking reservations for their annual New Year Eve bash from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. Bring your dancing shoes because the staff will clear out the diner for a performance by the Redcoats.  Appetizers will be available by buffet style. Tickets are $20. Call 304-248-7632 to make reservations.
