Mercer County’s bookstores are full of great reads, rare finds and even a few doggie tales!
Hearthside Books is one of two local bookstores in the county.
Tucked away in downtown Bluefield, the store draws book lovers from all across the region. Whether you are looking for a best-seller to read while on vacation or a children’s book for a special little one, you can find it at Hearthside Books. The store sells toys and even education material for teachers!
For 23 years, owners Wilma Bury and Anne Hess have turned customers into friends with their Appalachian hospitality. This is small-town shopping at its best. The store is warm and friendly, with plenty of options for gifts to take back home.
It is OK with us if you want to spend a lot of your vacation with your nose stuck in a book! Grab a blanket and read on the grass in Bluefield City Park.
In Princeton, Dayfly Bookstore is an unique assortment of used books, antiques and collectibles. You might search for hours until you find that one special book, but the wait is worth it. The bookstore blends right into the art scene on Mercer Street. It is perfect complement to the murals; you don’t want to miss those!
The cool thing is that the store owners leave free books on the sidewalk for locals and visitors. The owner, Rachel, is a huge book lover and has two sweet dogs that rule the store.
