It’s time for leaf peeping in Mercer County! We’ve been patiently waiting, but the temperatures are cooler and the leaves are finally starting to change. And according to the West Virginia Tourism Office, late October is when we’ll see peak color here. So bundle up, and visit these popular places where you can view vibrant autumn foliage!
Camp Creek State Park
Camp Creek State Park is a secluded park with many hiking trails. Lush forests surround two waterfalls on Camp Creek, making it a beautiful location for fall color. Horseback riding is a unique way to view the leaves and Camp Creek is a horse-friendly state park!
Pinnacle Rock State Park and Bramwell
Take Route 52 from Princeton to Bramwell – along the way, you’ll find Pinnacle Rock State Park. Hike to the top of this unique rock formation for some of the best mountain views in Mercer County. Afterwards, make your way to Bramwell for small town charm set against a backdrop of beautiful foliage.
East River Mountain
Drive to the top of East River Mountain in the next few weeks for an incredible mountain top view. The large observation deck at the top is the perfect overlook to see the city of Bluefield and the surrounding mountains.
The Hatfield-McCoy ATV Trails
Want to add a little adventure to your leaf peeping excursion? Hit the Hatfield-McCoy ATV Trails for some off-road fun! The Pocahontas trailhead is located right outside of the ATV-friendly town of Bramwell.
